New mattress relieves patient suffering
Study confirms the advantages of the Comfort Care Delta

The “Comfort Care Delta" medical mattress is a new Foam for Care product.

It reduces the risk of decubitus (bedsores) as was shown in a study conducted in the Bad Ischl General Hospital. For three months, staff and patients tested the mattresses in terms of comfort, handling, cleaning and hygiene.

"Besides reducing the decubitus risk, staff reported that patients were more comfortable and that the mattresses were easier to handle” said Sabine Unterwieser, deputy Head Nurse at the Bad Ischl General Hospital.

60 percent of all immobile patients are at risk from decubitus. To prevent these pressure-induced sores, Eurofoam developed the "Comfort Care Delta" medical mattress. This unique mattress combines comfort with optimal hygiene. The mattress consists of three layers that support the patient in the resting position. Moreover, the highly elastic polyurethane cover shapes itself to the patients form without creasing while allowing enough air to circulate to reduce sweating. At the same time the material is waterproof and the zipper and stitching are ultrasonically sealed. This ensures that the foam core cannot be contaminated, making the "Comfort Care Delta" mattress ideal for centralized preparation in bed washing stations. At the same time, this increases the lifespan of the mattress significantly compared with conventional mattresses.

Due to the successful results of the study, the department for internal medicine at the Bad Ischl General Hospital invested in 14 "Comfort Care Delta" mattresses at the end of the testing period.
